The Living Horse Museum

In 1982, Yves Bienaimé, as esquire professor, created large stables in the Living Horse Museum®.  In July 2006, the museum was purchased by the Foundation for Safeguarding and Development of the Chantilly Area, chaired by His Highness the Aga Khan.

Since its inception, the museum has supported many artists and the public world of the horse.  It has become an institution of international reputation, known by all lovers of the horse.  It features a total of 31 rooms spread over 4,000 sq m and an 800 m racecourse.

The Museum attracts an average of 160,000 visitors annually, making it one of the most popular horse museums in the world.

The Museum’s success can be attributed to its living, educational and cultural section.  Horses are best seen live and 30 horses of different breeds are presented to visitors on entry.  Throughout the day, horses can be seen at their daily work and, three times a day, riders offer visitors an educational show in the costume museum.
